The top five remained mostly consistent in this weekend’s box office. There were no big surprises, but horror film releases are on the rise as we continue through the Halloween season.
“The Exorcist: Believer” debuted with a $27 million opening weekend domestically. The newest “Exorcist” sequel has been received terribly by critics and garnered lukewarm reactions from fans, with only a 23% critics score and 59% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. This is the first film in a trilogy, with the second film planned for release in 2025.
“PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” did not fall far from No. 1 with a $12 million second weekend. Despite the Halloween season, “PAW Patrol” is still outperforming “Saw X”, which pulled in $8 million in its second weekend.
Continuing a disappointing theatrical run, “The Creator” comes in fourth place with only $6 million in its second weekend. This continues last week’s trend as the film opened to only $14 million. So far “The Creator” has made $62 million worldwide, far from its $80 million budget.
“The Blind” continues to surprise with a $4 million weekend. Another surprise in the top 10 is the re-release of the 1993 Halloween classic “Hocus Pocus”, which made $1.5 million domestically.
Note: The box office totals are estimated.
