The top two spots remained the same in this weekend’s box office

“Mean Girls” held onto the top spot with an $11.6 million second weekend, bringing its total gross to $50 million domestically. Reneé Rapp, who played Regina George, leader of the Plastics clique, has been doing lots of press for the new film, including an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend as the musical artist.

“The Beekeeper,” the new action film from Jason Statham and “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer, has continued its successful performance, grossing $8.6 million in its second weekend, bringing its domestic gross to $31.2 million.

“Wonka” refuses to leave the top five, grossing another $6.7 million in its sixth weekend. With this film and “Mean Girls” still firmly in the top five, musicals have cemented their potential for profit.

Illumination’s “Migration” is also still making money deep into its theater run, grossing another $5.5 million in its fifth weekend.

“Anyone But You,” the 2023 rom-com starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, has continued its surprising box office run with a $5.4 million fifth weekend, bringing its total domestic run to $64.2 million.

A disappointing entry to this weekend’s box office was “I.S.S.,” a new space thriller set aboard the International Space Station. The film did not take off its opening weekend, grossing only $3 million and earning poor audience reactions
