On Jan. 18, the City of Forney became the latest Film Friendly Texas Community, according to The Dallas Express. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that Forney will join over 175 other Film Friendly towns and cities, which will also distinguish it as the 22nd Film Friendly community in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
The City of Forney was certified as a Film Friendly Texas Community after its training and certification process was finalized, according to a press release from Abbott’s office. Forney City Manager Charles Daniels also said in the press release that he is grateful to the Texas Film Commission for choosing their community and was hopeful for the future.
“This recognition provides an excellent chance to introduce our community to a broader audience, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunities this designation will bring,” Daniels said.
Abbott thanked the Texas Film Commission for “helping communities like Forney market their unique appeal and support local job creation through media production.”
As previously reported by sznsmag.com, the Texas Film Commission website features a full index of Film Friendly Texas Communities, featuring interactive maps and contact information for government officials, all of which can help filmmakers develop their projects. The Texas Film Commission also stays up-to-date with industry positions and casting calls for aspiring cast and crew members.
The release also mentions the Texas Film Commission’s recent achievements, including more than $2 billion in local spending and creating over 183,000 production jobs across the state since 2007.
“Texas is brimming with promise,” Abbott said. “And I look forward to continuing to work alongside all of our communities to ensure they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed.”
