Many new projects were added to this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & TV Festival slate, including three additional headliners to lead screenings.

Dev Patel, known for roles in “The Green Knight” and “Slumdog Millionaire,” writes, produces, directs and stars in “Monkey Man,” which serves as his directorial debut. Jordan Peele (“Get Out,” “Us,” “Nope”) also serves as producer for Patel’s film through the fittingly-named Monkeypaw Productions. The film will premiere at 9:30 p.m. on March 11 at The Paramount Theatre in Austin.

Another headliner announced was “Y2K,” a teenage disaster film set at the turn of the century. The film is helmed by Kyle Mooney, another first-time director. Mooney was a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 2013-2022 and was most recently featured on the big screen as a male nanny in 2023’s “No Hard Feelings.” The indie-powerhouse A24 produced the film, which stars Rachel Zegler (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” “West Side Story”), Jaeden Martell (“It,” “Knives Out”) and Julian Dennison (“Godzilla vs. Kong,” “Deadpool 2”). The film will premiere at 10 p.m. on March 9 at The Paramount Theatre in Austin.

“Immaculate,” a psychological horror film starring Sydney Sweeney, best known for “Euphoria” and most recently “Anyone But You,” follows a nun as she encounters horrors at an Italian convent. Director Michael Mohan previously worked with Sweeney on 2021’s “The Voyeurs,” a psychological thriller that marked the beginning of their collaborative relationship. Sweeney also serves as a producer. The film will premiere at 10 p.m. on March 12 at The Paramount Theatre in Austin.

In total, 50 new projects were added across the film, television and extended reality (XR) programs, according to a SXSW announcement. Other previously announced headliners are “The Fall Guy” and “Road House,” whose own director, Doug Liman, will personally boycott
