This weekend’s box office was the lowest of the year so far.
“Argylle” came in at No. 1 for the second straight weekend, adding $6.2 million to its abysmal $28.5 million domestic gross.
“Lisa Frankenstein” pulled in $3.7 million in its debut weekend. The new film, directed by Zelda Williams and written by Diablo Cody (“Juno,” “Jennifer’s Body,” “Tully”), follows Lisa as she adjusts to life after her mother’s murder and finds friendship and love in a reanimated corpse. This marks Zelda Williams’ first feature-length film after directing various television and music video projects, acting and contributing to other creative credits. She is best known for her voice acting work on Nickelodeon’s “The Legend of Korra.” Williams is also the daughter of the late Robin Williams.
“Wonka” is still in the top five nine weeks after its initial release, grossing $3 million to bring its total domestic run to $205 million.
“The Beekeeper” and “Migration” earned $3.4 and $2.9 million, respectively.
2021’s “Dune” was re-released in theaters, earning $570,000 ahead of its sequel “Dune: Part Two,” which is set to release on March 1. 2022’s “Turning Red” earned $578,000 and is the latest Pixar film to be re-released in theaters after Disney released it straight to its streaming service Disney⁺. 2020’s “Soul” was re-released earlier this year, while 2021’s “Luca” will hit theaters on March 22.
Note: “Dune” box office total is estimated at the time of writing.
