If you’re starting as an actor and interested in joining a Texas film project, here are some listings from Backstage.com you may want to see:
“Most Likely to Succeed” is seeking talent from various locations including Houston and Dallas for six roles:
– Meg (supporting, female, 32-45)
– Autumn (supporting, female, 32-45)
– Jay (supporting, 32-45)
– Travis (supporting, 32-45)
– Charlie (day player, male, 4-10)
– Wrigley (day player, 3-10)
This film, shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, will follow Allie (previously cast), who visits her 20-year high school reunion with her husband Michael (previously cast). The roles of Meg and Jay will be shot on May 29 and May 30. Autumn will shoot on May 29 only. These roles are unpaid, but travel reimbursement is negotiable for those outside of Shreveport, and room will be provided for overnight actors.
“Cassie Catches A Criminal” is casting for five actors from across the southwest, including Dallas, San Antonio and El Paso:
– Cassie Grey (lead, female, 23-27, Latino)
– Robert Murphy (supporting, 35-75)
– Monica Partlow (supporting, female, 18-25, multiracial or Latino)
– Riley Griggs (supporting, female, 21-50)
– Warren Bailey (supporting, male, 40-60, multiracial, Latino or white)
“Cassie Catches A Criminal” will be shot from June to August in El Paso. They are also seeking a local El Paso resident as a production assistant. The project will be a half-hour crime drama developed under a low-budget SAG agreement, according to the description provided. It will emulate “You” and “Bates Motel.” These roles are not paid, nor is travel or board covered.
“A Day In The Park” is looking for an actress from Houston and Porter:
– April (lead, female, 20-40)
“A Day In The Park” will be an action-comedy short about an enjoyable day gone wrong and will be filmed in May in The Woodlands, near Houston. This role will pay up to a $40 flat rate and lunch will be provided. The project is also seeking a camera operator.
“Fake A Smile” is seeking two actors from San Antonio:
– Chris Holden (supporting, male, 21-35)
– Daniel (day player, male, 25-40)
Shoots will be on July 13 and 14 from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. in three San Antonio locations. The role of Chris Holden offers a $150 flat rate, while the role of Daniel is unpaid. Both roles will receive meals, snacks and travel reimbursement. The project will be an online-distributed short film focusing on Anne Holden, a struggling young woman who faces the difficult decision of selling her estranged mother’s home.
Finally, an untitled short horror film is seeking actors from Houston and Pasadena:
– Charlotte (lead, female, 24-33)
– Hannah (lead, female, 24-33)
– David (supporting, male, 24-35)
This short film focuses on Charlotte’s revenge against her high school bully, Hannah, who got away with assaulting Charlotte, resulting in the loss of her eye. All roles will be paid a yet-to-be-determined amount and will provide IMDb credit and reel footage. The project will be filmed in Houston on an undetermined date.
