The Austin Film Society (AFS) is set to honor actress Michelle Rodriguez; producer, screenwriter and director Noah Hawley; and Alamo Drafthouse founders Tim and Karrie League at the Texas Film Awards on Thursday, March 6.

Rodriguez, best known for roles in the “Fast & Furious” franchise and “Avatar,” and Hawley, creator and director of FX’s “Fargo” and upcoming “Alien: Earth,” will be honored for their “significant contributions to the advancement of the Texas film and creative media industry,” according to a recent press release from AFS. Rodriguez, born in San Antonio, has starred in “Machete” and “Machete Kills,” both filmed in and around Austin, from Texan-director Robert Rodriguez, who will present her award. Hawley’s 26 Keys production company has recently opened their headquarters in downtown Austin.

Tim and Karrie League will be inducted to the Texas Film Hall of Fame for “the impact they have had on the independent film industry, especially within the Texas community,” stated the AFS press release. The couple founded Alamo Drafthouse in Austin in 1997. The theater chain has grown nationwide and has been lauded for its screenings of independent films. Tim League co-founded distribution and production company NEON in 2017, which has released award-winning films such as “Parasite,” “Anatomy of a Fall” and “Anora.” Actor and producer Elijah Wood will present the Leagues with their award.

The annual awards event will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. Past inductees of the Texas Film Hall of Fame include Glen Powell, Matthew McConaughey, Renée Zellweger, Ethan Hawke and Sissy Spacek.
