Boomtown Film & Music Festival — Beaumont, Texas — Feb. 21-23
The Boomtown Film & Music Festival will feature three days of independent films, music performances and panel discussions. The festival will feature premieres from their “48 Hr. Film Race,” a competition held prior to the festival where teams were challenged to write, shoot, edit and deliver a short film from a randomly assigned genre in just two days.
Prison City Film Festival — Huntsville, Texas — Feb. 26 – March 4
Located in Huntsville, the Prison City Film Festival features over 60 short and feature film screenings. Screenings run in blocks throughout the day, with special screenings for student films and a “Prison City Film Festival Filmmakers Workshop” on the final day.
South by Southwest (SXSW) — Austin, Texas — March 7-15
SXSW, one of Texas’ foremost conference and festival events, features an impressive slate of premieres for its Film & TV Festival. Films such as “The Accountant 2” and A24’s “Death of a Unicorn” are set for world premieres, as well as “The Studio,” a television premiere from Apple TV⁺. The Texas Shorts Competition will feature eight short films “filmed in, inspired by, or connected to the Lone Star State,” as stated on the SXSW website.
